It has been a very busy and exciting year so far in Whistler, B.C.! Still feeling the buzz of a record amount of visitors this summer and endless amounts of beautiful weather, it's time to get geared up for another snowy winter! Some of the highlights from this year so far:
Chalet listing inventory is at a 5 year low and continues to plummet.
Median Sale Price ans Sales Volume
With the depletion of inventory comes a drastic spike in median sale price over the last 5 years.
Townhouse Median Sale Price and Sales Volume
Median sale price of townhomes in Whistler is up 32% in 2016 over 2015!
The common market trend in Whistler is a severe lack of listing inventory. Condo listing inventory is down 84% in 2016 to approximately 60 active listings from the high of July 2011 when there was 325 condo's actively listed for sale on the Whistler Listing System.
There has been a drastic increase in shared ownership sales, year after year since 2013. These include, 1/10th and 1/4 shared freehold strata ownerships in Whistler.
Median sale price is up 35% in 2016 from 2014. Sales volume has doubled and listing inventory continues to plummet.

- The Renaissance Project - a long term plan from WhistlerBlackcomb to spend $350M on new all season activities and luxury ski-in and ski-out townhomes on Blackcomb Mountain.
- Whistler Blackcomb was purchased by Vail Resorts - Vail Resorts pays $1.4 Billion for what some are calling “ the crown jewel,” of all of Vail's properties.
- Summer visitors exceed winter....again!
- Winter 2015/16 had the most snow we've seen in years!
