Here's why we aren't opening the alpine lifts this weekend by Whistler Blackcomb on Friday, November 25, 2011

Safety is of the utmost importance to Whistler Blackcomb and mountain operations teams are working hard to ensure the high alpine zones are safe before opening them to the public. The above photos are of a controlled avalanche that occurred in Harmony Zone on Whistler Mountain. This area is currently outside Whistler Blackcomb's Temporary Ski Area Boundary. It was intentionally triggered by Whistler Blackcomb ski patrol as they conducted avalanche control with explosives. So far this year the number of sales has been relatively consistent month to month ranging from a low of 33 in January to a high of 50 in March, with a monthly average of 43. Residential townhomes have been the most popular property type with buyers. The most active price range for Whistler buyers has been between $350,000 to $900,000. Next in line are higher-end townhomes and single family chalets in the $1.1M to $1.8M range. One key focus for buyers is properties that are exempt of the HST.   Summer is finally here …at least that’s what the calendar says. Blackcomb Mountain is Now Closed For The Season - Another Great Gaper Day

WhistlerBlackcomb has wrapped up their winter operations for another winter season. The 2010-2011 season will go down in the history books as the second snowiest winter since recording began! The closing day of the mountain is known around Whistler as 'Gaper Day'.... a great excuse to get dressed up and go riding with your friends!
